No World Cup 2010, No possibility of a World Cup until 2014....5 year from now. No possibility of any preliminary world cup matches against so-called "minnows" until what...about 2012...three years from now?

No Gold Cup 2009? No CONCACAF competition until about 2011?

Since all the "brand name" ballers are 28 and 29, don't seem overly motivated when the play for us and probably on their way out, I don't expect to see many of them around given that we have no big tournaments for years.

I haven't really seen any players coming up that were as capable or as exciting to watch as a Fuller...and Lowe, as trailblazing and fast as Gardner (for Bolton), as hard and controlling as a Goodison, as level-headed and reliable as a Marshall, or as able to control their urges of physicality enough to be effective as in Davis and Stewart. Ricketts.

In other words, I don't see anyone yet who looks to me like they would be ready to head to the best leagues in the world.

The focus in Jamaica is now back on our strength...track. So where does this leave us.

I have been on this board for 9 years, having first posted in 2000 (though my info shows otherwise for some reason). Yet this is the first time I was left wondering about what we had to look forward to. Four or so years ago, I could still follow Fuller, Gardner, Johnson, Goodison, Lowe, Burton, even Davis and see how they were carrying our flag in the English leagues. It was fun because I knew I would see these stars showing up for us on the pitch internationally. I don't whether this will be the case anymore, as we know that while the accomplished players will show up for bigger tournaments, they will not show for smaller stuff...and their respective clubs will help by providing heavy incentive for them not to appear. Since most players are older, it seems they are now, effectively, done. I had a special affinity for these players since many were in my age range or just a few years younger.

I am worried we are on the cusp of collapsing with the way things have gone over the past 5 years. Burrell, Boxhill and Burrell have done little to inspire confidence. Burrell, in particular, certainly is not the "visionary" people were claiming him to be. I said just prior to Boxhill's departure that it appeared there was little to no difference between the two in terms of running the JFF...maybe for different reasons, but the result was the same. The only thing Burrell had to offer in my view was his FIFA, COCACAF and CFU connections, connections cemented, in part, by some of the almshouse related to a support for Sepp Blatter. Those connections were good, but they also worked against Jamaica when Burrell was told he could not run the JFF. So we are now left with Burrell, whose vision has led us to the state where we are now with nothing on the horizon.

Well, I am not in a position to do anything about it, so I will have to live with it. I don't know who we have coming up that is displaying any top class promise...maybe Austin. JCR will be there in the future. Zavon Hines? Nosworthy? (who for reason never got a call - I hope there is more to that story that has not been told). Cummings? Obrien White? Anyone else. I guess I am just going to have pull out the couch and ease back and watch and see over the next 2 years of absolutely nothing going on.

Bwoy Shaggy, I feel the same pain my friend. I very sad about our inability to score goals and win games because those are the factors that make a team progress. At times I feel like just giving up on our football because it seem that it brings more pain and frustration than anything else. We are just like a cat chasing it's tail and going nowhere. But we must remain positive and support the fresh blood that will provide hope for the future.

Well, the problem is that we have no real competitions left but play friendlies for the next 2-3 years. This should give the team time to rebuild from the lower age groups. We should seek to recruit some young overseas players like JCR who came up through the ranks. We should also set a higher standard for players joining the team...run them through a fitness test which they have to pass before even being considered.

*If we are going to stick with Tappa, we should get him properly
trained and qualified to do the job.

*We also need to hire a qualified finishing coach who can teach the entire team on how to score goals.

Jagga because we keep making decisions base on emotions and notin else. For example look at the Tappa should get a chance decision. What was the rationale behind that? Boxhill what was the rationale? And i cld go on and on. Until we start use objectivity and empirical evidence in our reasoning and decision making we nah reach no where and will have the same discussions for eva

Here are first team players, omitting college and youth team players that have promise we can all follow

Keeper:
ryan thompson, 23 - university of tampa, ncaa... very good keeper

Defense:
keiron bernard - usl aztecs captain
lyle adams - was captain of wake forest partners with bernard at the aztecs now

Midfield:
akeem priestly, 23 - harbour view, similar to persad a very creative player
omar persad, 23 - the jamaican freddy adu that can track back, plays in belgium
tristan daine plummer, 19 - bristol city, championship, future campbell ryce
danny rose, 19 - tottenham

Attack:
ricky sappleton, 19 - leicester city fc, championship... hand full when in shape
o'brian white, 23 - toronto fc, mls... might make an appearance vs real madrid
omar cummings, 24, - colorado rapids, mls tied for 5th in mls with 6 goals
ryan johnson, 24 - san jose earthquakes, mls tied for 5th with 6 goals
dever orgill, 19 - vancouver whitecaps, usl 1, u20 top striker 8 goals
lewis young, 19 - watford
daniel sturridge, 19 - chelsea
zavon hines, 20 - west ham

Things to come:
our u20 teams and u17 teams have qualifying in 2010 for the 2011 world cups that take place in Columbia and Mexico respectively... but why bother anymore haha, we had the team this year and blew it

Digicel Cup, Winter 2010
Gold Cup, July, 2011
Caribbean Preliminary Olympic Qualification August 2011
Carribean Final Round Olympic Qualification January 2011
Concacaf Olympic Qualification Final Round May 2012
Olympics, London, August 2012
World Cup Qualification, Brasil, Early 2013
Confederations Cup, Brasil, June 2013
Gold Cup, July, 2013
World Cup Qualification, resumes in August 2013
Fifa World Cup 2014

if we stick with tappa, he made many mistakes in the gold cup, but sometimes the only way to get it right is to get it wrong... i think once he has players he is not really friends with anymore it will be a completely different story

that or hope tranmere flops and recall Barnes, I am sure every player would be extra motivated to play under him and would respect him more... but either way should be fine

Zilla, I think you should pick up the phone and call Burrell and ask him what's his next move? ...and these are not baseless attack on Captain Burrell...

Jagga - I hear you, and nothing has been done within those 4 years. Just the same old stuff!

\:\) Here is one of the problem why we are stuck. The blame game and no solution. If it was so easy to plant seeds in Burrell's head then you know where he would have jumped by now..inna the sea. Lets see if that works

Realistically, less than 30% of our u20 players will make the transistion to the senior team for a variety of reasons, some of them will peak at 19 or 20.

IMO, the goalkeeper and center back have a tremedous potential

I would like to see my friend Ryan Thompson as a backup for Ricketts. The JFF never look to the college teams in the USA. They have so many jamaican players like Ryan Maxwell who will get a contract in the MLS.

Another good player would be Jermaine Pennant and Darren Pratley. Do you know the young Nigel Neita from Arsenal youth.

Ashley Youngs brother is 12 years old and play also for an arsenal youth team. Onandi Lowes son is 16 years old and plays for Harbour View.

We need good young players, especially from oversea. The football league in jamaica is very bad.

haha you will have to tell me, I don't watch the dpl

but everyone 25 and over will be atleast 30 come next world cup and at that age you have to work so much harder to maintain fitness it's hard to see several of them being in shape by then, considering how winded most of them were for the gold cup

ricketts will be the exception and it's up to cummings and richards to continue to perform their way onto the squad at those ages

most of the u20s like taylor, darby, adlam, mittoo, chin, salmon are playing reserves and college ball and are most likely locks for the u23 (Olympic) team... the best of them who can find a club and get solid minutes will make the jump first

The team needs the following:
1. FIND A COACH - No Coaching - I knew getting rid of Johnny Barnes was folly
2. BETTER PLANNING BY THE ADMINISTRATION - Lack of preparation - cant fly in the day before a match and think that you can gell
3. PLAYING PHILOSOPHY - No consistency - must have a sustainable philosophy/structure. Cant have 442 today and 352 the next day - tough to hold shape when the formation is erractic
4. NEED UB40s to help complement the squad - The JA ballers who make it in the "foreign" leagues are prima donnas - Fuller is a great example
