Apparently head to head comes before goal difference.
Heres a report from CONCACAF :
MIAMI - Omar Cummings scored with a flick of his right foot in the 70th minute and Jamaica beat El Salvador 1-0 Friday to keep alive its hopes of advancing to the quarterfinals of the CONCACAF Gold Cup.
The result clinched a berth in the final eight for Costa Rica, and left Jamaica third in the group with three points ahead of El Salvador, which was eliminated. Two teams from each of the three groups advance along with the two best third-place teams.
The Caribbean champion will have to wait for the results of the other two groups Saturday and Sunday to see if it advances.
Canada finished atop the group with seven points, three ahead Costa Rica. Jamaica finished ahead of El Salvador due to Friday's victory.
Neither side created much in the game, generating only a handful of chances each in the finale of Group A.
Jamaica started with a bit more possession, but both sides seemed mired in a midfield battle on the artificial turf at FIU Stadium.
Cummings had probably what was the best chance for either team before the goal, working free near the top of the penalty area before unleashing a right-footed shot that Salvadoran goalkeeper Miguel Montes had to stretch to tip it wide of the far post.
Jamaica went ahead when Luton Shelton created space on the left, turned and curled a low, bouncing cross to the near post, where Cummings had worked inside Alexander Escobar and just managed to redirect the ball between Montes and the upright.
El Salvador, which would have advanced with a draw, had its lst chance in the third minute of injury time when Montes' free kick from 19 yards struck the left post.
Group A Jamaica 3 Points (-1) Waiting on Sundays Results.
Group B Haiti 3 Points (+1) USA VS Haiti (July 11, 2009) USA wins 3-0; Haiti goes home (Maybe)-If Panama looses. USA draws with Haiti; Haiti takes one spot.
Group C Panama 1 Point (-1) Panama Vs Nicaragua (July 12, 2009) Panama stays by beating Nicagarua Panama stays if Haiti looses by 3 and Panama wins.....
Dont think USA are 3 goals better than Haiti with this squad, but they have done it before. Panama will get that spot IMO so we need the USA to come through. GO yanks.
Freddy Adu and Benny Fielhaber went back to their clubs to make room for guys like Jozy Altidore ......stay tuned.

You think U.S. would a rather let we through than Haiti?
The players are trying to impress Bob Bradley......there are a lot of players on the bubble and some players stocks has risen like, Charlie Davis. Guys like Stuart Holden, Quaranta, Luis Robles etc would love to give Bradley a serious headache........Heath Pearce is looking for a club.......Onyewu type money......not Haitian funds.
Do you think goal keeper Troy Perkins is going to mess up his World Cup chance for Haiti? It is not that deep.

NEW YORK - Four teams are in and seven more still had a chance at the quarterfinals Saturday morning with only four games remaining in the first round of the CONCACAF Gold Cup.
Canada, Costa Rica, Guadeloupe and the United States already have clinched their places in the final eight, and only El Salvador has been eliminated.
With its 2-1 victory over Costa Rica in the opening game, El Salvador was on course to claim a quarterfinal berth Friday night, clinging to a 0-0 score late in the second half against Jamaica. It appeared to be poised to finish with four points, tying it with Costa Rica, but advancing thanks to its July 3 victory over its Central American neighbor.
But then it allowed a 70th-minute goal by Omar Cummings, lost 1-0 to Jamaica and was left with three points - same as Jamaica. But because it lost to Jamaica, it finished last in Group A and was eliminated.
Two teams from each group advance, with the two best third-place teams also advancing. That leaves Jamaica in contention heading into Saturday's Group B final games.
Gold Cup regulations determine order based on the following criteria:
1.) Points 2.) Head-to-head results 3.) Goal difference between the teams tied (if more than two teams) 4.) Goals scored between the teams tied (if more than two teams) 5.) Goal difference in all matches 6.) Goals scored in all matches 7.) Drawing of lots
Jamaica will have to wait until Sunday to learn if it will remain in the United States to prepare for a quarterfinal next weekend.
everyone that says the us is using a b team, they were starting with one to begin with and read lincoln's post again... this is the best chances most of these guys will get for world cup roster spots so they will be playing hard
brazil played their matches against the national U17 teams in preparation for the world cup and had to run miles upon miles if they failed to reach double digits... you can argue that brazil's u17 is better than cayman's senior side, but it looks like we could have used the finishing practice or the fitness either way this tournament

I have confidence that the U.S. will come out to play. They have some very good talent on that B team, and it is hungry talent. These are players who want to impress Bradley, with an eye to next year. Haiti has not played badly, but if the U.S. puts the pedal to the metal it will easily be 3 or 4 goals. Listen, I would rarely cheer for the States in football, but this time I will be hoarse.
Forum Ites - The Cayman trip was folly. The 2 different 11 that started in Cayman didnt resemble the sides that started in the Gold Cup - 80 percent of the Cayman Boyz didnt even make the trip to the US. If it helped anyone it helped Tappa - although I dont know how. The PROBLEM is you bring in players theday before the match and expect them to gell. Their first real practice the Boyz had together was the Gold Cup match against Canada whereas Canada's squad was in training camp for 12 days - and I might add Canada's camp was not a trial camp, the players that were in the camp were their 23 selected for the tournament. Bush League admin and Bush League coaching cant get the best out of professional players - the Admin and the Coaching appear clueless.
