if dever orgill is out, it means for the honduras game we have to depend on "john ross" Sapleton and adlam. Great switch duckie, putting on adlam before sapleton. He proved his worth.

**Applause** Duckie

Does anybody know what the deal was with Sappleton today? Did he start, or was he subbed on later?

Cascas1, That change was no brainer. An unfit Sappleton should not have started in the first game against USA over Adlam. See wha happen when u start tinker with u line up at the late stage.
He also left out Chris Banner in the first game but started him today.

Congrats to the Boyz! Well done.. Disappointed with Orgil (Best Striker) and Darby (Best Def)getting Red Cards at Crucial time like this.

Andre Clennon Sappelton and Adlam will have to lead the forward line. We need to defend hard at the back. Andre Blake needs to be at his best. He should not conceed any goals.

Obviously, I haven't seen any of the team play (except for those few matches that we could watch on line in Aruba. But, do you definitely think Orgill is the best? He's performed the best historically, no doubt. But I feel like maybe Sappleton and Adlam could give him a run for his money. Again, I'm really not sure, and those fo you who have seen the three play could give a more informed opinion.

Part of that match report

"El Salvador intended to leave their mark on more than the score card. The Central Americans were largely on the receiving end, two days earlier, and perhaps there was a touch of revenge in their approach on Monday. By the final whistle, though, referee David Nelson had booked a remarkable ten players-six from El Salvador-while two of the visitors were ejected for a second bookable offence."

Under-20s rebound with 2-1 victory
Published: Monday | March 9, 2009

Kwesi Mugisa, Staff Reporter
Jamaica's young Reggae Boyz kept their hopes of booking a place in the youth World Cup in Egypt later this year in good stead, after getting by El Salvador 2-1 at the Dwight Yorke Stadium in Tobago yesterday, despite going down to nine men late in the second half.

Romario Campbell gave the Jamaicans a dream start when he netted in the eighth minute.

However, El Salvador were soon level through the efforts of Herbert Arnold Sosa, who equalised three minutes later.

El Salvador were reduced to 10 men when Nelson Rivera was given his marching orders for a crunching tackle on striker Dever Orgil in the 32nd minute.

Numbers even

However, just six minutes later the numbers were even as Jamaica captain Andre Derby was also sent early to the showers.

The team certainly looked in danger of falling apart when Orgill was sent off at the 44th minute.

"At half-time, the team the management decided to just forget about everything that happened in the first half and go out to get the result," manager Roy Simpson said.

"In a tournament like this, we knew that a second loss would have put us out of it and we needed to have our destiny in our own hands," he added.

Despite the win, the team will be without both Orgill and Derby when they suit up for their final preliminary game against Honduras tomorrow.

"They are two very important players to the team, but based on the type of resolve they showed tonight, I have no doubt they will be able to step up," Simpson said of the Jamaica team.

Chances surge

The Under-20s also saw their chances surge after Honduras and United States of America (USA) played their way into a 0-0 draw in the evening's second game. The result sees the USA, who beat Jamaica 3-0 in the opening game, lead the group on four points, followed by Jamaica on three, Honduras on two and El Salvador on one.

A win for the Jamaicans in their final game of the tournament will ensure their progression to the final. Honduras and El Salvador played their way to a 2-2 draw in the group's first game.

The top two teams from each group will advance to the semi-finals and earn a berth in the FIFA U-20 World Cup, which will be played in Egypt from September 24 to October 16 this year.

Victory, but at what price?

I think they baited us and we went for it. Amateurish to have two sending off at a time like this. Does not enhance their stock.

This after a very rough El Salvador/TnT encounter - in Trinidad.

Honduras did what we were unable to do. Keeep the US from scoring.

Some of the coaches are almost jealous not to have this lot of u-20.

more than thaT, Honduras should have scored at least 4 against the US. The US keeper was man of the match, making save after save after save after save.

Boyz bounce back

Nine-man Ja clip El Salvador to revive U-20 World Cup hopes

Howard Walker @ U-20 World Cup Qualifiers in Trinidad & Tobago

Monday, March 09, 2009

BACOLET, Tobago - Jamaica scored a 2-1 victory over El Salvador playing with nine men for 50 minutes and kept their FIFA Under-20 World Cup hopes alive at the Dwight Yorke Stadium yesterday.

It was one of the most courageous displays by a Jamaican team and they truly deserved the win after captain Andre Darby and star striker Dever Orgill both picked up red cards in the 38th and 45th minutes respectively.

El Salvador, playing with a one-man advantage as their centre half, Nelson Rivera first saw the red card of Canadian referee Paul Ward in the 31st minute, pressed hard but could not break down the stubborn defending of the Young Reggae Boyz.

Jamaica, needing a win to stay alive, got off to a flyer as Romario Campbell latched onto a well-weighted pass from Alanzo Adlam and fired pass Diego Cuellar in goal in the eigth minute.

But five minutes later, El Salvador drew level courtesy of Herbert Sosa who found space inside the box and fired past Andre Blake in the 13th minute.

The diminutive Adlam found the winner in the 56th minute, beating the goalkeeper before calmly slotting home. He was later substituted in the 68th minute after picking up a nasty knock.

Jamaica, after losing 0-3 to the USA in their opening game, moved to three points, while El Salvador remained on one and virtually out of contention for a World Cup spot.

In the other game, 10-man USA and Honduras ended drew 0-0. Jamaica's head coach, Donovan Duckie, was a happy man and made special mention of the Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) general secretary Horace Reid, whom he said "really worked on the players' head" after the 0-3 loss to the USA.

Said Duckie: "I thought it was a spirited performance by the staff after we lost the first game. I would like to single out Horace Reid, I thought he did a wonderful job. He did a lot of psychological work with the team for them to recover for the second game."

"The effort of the guys on the field was very good. It got difficult for us, but we held our composure playing with a man short. We had to change our formation to 4-2-2. We want to win but did not wanted to lose," he added. El Salvador coach, Jose Huezo, was a dejected man. "We had a man advantage but just couldn't capitalised," he lamented.

Jamaica started out positively, and in the second minute, Dever Orgill directed a Leaughn Williams shot wide at the near post.

Jamaica would take the lead after a brilliant through ball from Adlam saw Campbell firing home from midway the box in the eighth minute. But that lead would be short-lived as Herbert Sosa found space to tuck home a low grounder pass goalkeeper Andre Blake to level the scores.

With both teams battling for supremacy, the advantage swung Jamaica's way as in the 31st minute, El Salvador defender Nelson Rivera saw red for a high tackle on Orgill. But seven minutes later, Jamaican captain Darby did like wise, clobbering Alexander Mendoza and also saw red in the 38th minute.

Then in the 45th minute things went bad for Jamaica as striker Orgill floored substitute defender Cesar Lopez with an elbow on the half-way line and was red carded.

This was Orgill's second dismissal in the qualifiers. The Vancouver Whitecaps striker also saw red in St Vincent against the Dominican Republic, and on Friday he was yellow carded in the second minute against the USA.
Jamaica went into the half-time break knowing they have their hands full to get a positive result out of the game. The first half was highlighted by three red cards and two goals.
