Harbour View Football Club continues to show that they are more than just football. I hope that the other clubs are doing similar programs with the kids in their community
HVFC Community Outreach Program with 8 Basic Schools
The youngsters, teachers and parents attended the Digicel Premier League highlight game last Sunday between 2008 Caribbean Club Champions Harbour View FC and league Champions, Portmore United at the Harbour View Stadium.
As they have become accustomed to do over the last two years, the teachers carry the children to the community stadium on a tuesday morning every other month, for a two hours visit to experience the joy of meeting some of their folk heroes, play with them and be introduced to the love of the game at an early age.
Over 200 students have fun running around on the field as they have none on their premises, kick footballs with players they only hear about and be taught a thing or two by Coaches, they can actually touch.
Club Sponsors, Adidas gives gifts while Glaxo Smith Kline (Lucozade) provides Ribena Drinks and Jamaica Biscuit Company adds Biscuits and Snacks to everyone.
The HVFC presented small sized footballs to each school to assist with the lessons being continued away from the stadium. A grand time was had by all.

J'down, you cannot imagine! It's not only a positive experience for the kids but also for the players/coaches/volunteers.

Two thumbs up for H.view. Hope PMU and the Rest of the league should emulate what H.view is doing..NPL Clubs could make appearances at the various Shopping Malls and Sign Autographs for the Fans. Get Closer to the Parents and Kids try to develop that trust... NPL/JFF should Have a Rules of the game in the Sports Section (Weekend Edition of the Sunday paper)where they can win Prizes Ex Team Autographed Jersey. That will help to educate the Casual Football Fan about the Game.
I remember a few yrs ago walking into a Sporting goods store, think it might a been @ Twin Gates Plaza to buy a Jamaica Natl Team Jersey while in Ja on Vacation and there was none to be found neither was there any NPL Jerseys. The only Jerseys displayed in the Store was: River Plate, England team jersey and Argentina team Jersey..
