I remember a when I first joined up on the Forum, their were some many interesting topics and JA football and JA sports. Now, that have changed. It seems like everyone has forgotten JA historic WC appaerance. I use to look forward to reading JT, Soupbone, Trini, Topnotch, Poison, Rudi, Zouse, Saltman, Double, Dread, Pricess and all the other astute Members. Now, the topics that get much response are not sports related. Don't get me wrong, I think the intentions are well intended. But I feel like we are waiting again for the NEXT WC to come around. We have let JFF off the hook for now, which is wrong. The new topics now are POLITICS. Then again JAMAICANS only become politicians when ELECTION TIME comes. So, I guess the same goes for the WC.
This forum was once an escape, form the monotony from everyday politics for me. I long for SOUPBONE'S daily recap of JA training sessions. I guess, the next WC can't come soon enought for me. Its funny how issues such as; THE NEED FOR STADIA, JFF MISS-USE of FUNDS(alledgably), WHO SHOULD be JA TD, WHAT STYLE OF BALL is BEST for JA, WHICH FORMATION is best for JA(5,3,2 vs 4,4,2), and the other innovative topics the forumities would post. Boy those were the days
I the importance of politics and that some may see more importance and urgent needs in JA right now, other than sports.
But then again its just BUSINESS as usual in JA. DON'T DO ANYTHING or MAINTAIN ANYTHING. Just make promises and talk crap.

You joined at a time when things were happening in sports. Now we have to scrape for little sport news -about Jamaica.
Quote:
Now, that have changed.
Yes, I think the forum has changed but changed for the better. I read where a couple other persons made the same observation like you but if you are honest with yourself you will see that without these 'other' topics the furum would have been locked down by now because everything has already been discussed and nothing not going on right now. I remember one man actually post a topic saying that Now that WCQ are over what will we talk about on the forum
The same man come back and post another topic saying that the forum is divided into two kind of topics , football and the other stuff. I guess the other stuff is taking precedence right now.
Anyway, next month you will get more football discussions than you can cope with.
Quote:
It seems like everyone has forgotten JA historic WC appaerance.
No, we have not forgotten it, but what else about it can we discuss. We probably need to discuss future strategies to take us to Germany in 2006 which we sometimes do but we need more things to talk about also.
Quote:

I look forward to hearing seeing more football related topics from you too. I personally think that you have got a good football brain.
Quote:

Probably because people are tired of talking about the same thing everyday. Look how long the Wicked Wilson thread is. Maybe we need to talk more bout gal business.
Quote:

No we are not waiting for the next time Jamaica qualified for the WC. We will be discussing this world cup next month. We have been discusiing the Premier, Scottish, Championship leagues and any teams where our players are playing ( like Rushdem )
Quote:
We have let JFF off the hook for now, which is wrong.
You may be right there but we have done enough talking on that. We should be doing some actions. It makes no sense logging on the forum everyday and cuss the JFF without actually attempting to do anything about it.
Quote:

Just treat the forum like a bunch of people haging out on a corner discussing a wide variety of issues. Sometimes we get a lot of politics but if the threads are long it tells you that this is what people want to talk about.
True that Karl, true that. I thought I was alone with the same obsevation.
All the conscious thinking and solid, educational talks around here has disappeared. I guess we all are seasonal, just like the weather or birds in flight.
I for one just sit and observe most of the times. One of the main reason for me is that people have lost the true meaning of dialogue, disrespecting each other and acting child like in many instances. Most of the things I see people want to talk about is of no significance or simply just trivial. Therefore, I will just chill until I start to see positive changes around here.
I use to enjoy very much the days of Ddread, JT, Maximus, Atownrudi, Myyout, Assassin, Russian, Mobydick, Truetrini, Lepimi, General, Jagga and a few others. The lads use to really put forward some very good points of discussion. Things have really changed almost to the point of being dead. Anyways, let's see what happens.

I guess you can't really escape politics brethrin. It's everywhere!!! My advise for you would be to avoid reading too much of the Political stuff. Just stick to reading my posts
Quote:

That's exactly my point!!! It's not like we wouldn't discuss football. It's just that there are no football palying. Anyway if this makes you feel better, you can search through the archives and re-read some of those posts if you like .

But Karl, while those topics were innovative at the time are they considered innovative now? Also, what have we accomplished from all those discussions that you pointed out? What have we done? What have we achieved?
But trust mi all is not lost. We knew before that there would be a draw back in Jamaica football if we did not qualify for the WC. We knew that we weren't going to play in the goal cup. Basically nothing not going on right now. I honestly think that something should be going on but with Karl Brown away for one year, Cargil busy running Habour View and JFF busy cutting back because the Government is cutting their funding - we are basically back to square one.

There you go talking Jamaican politics. Don't you see that we can't avoid talking about it?
dart....are you saying that the members have gone brain dead? Maybe you should give them something stimulating to talk about. As a moderator you should set the trend
Most of the Original Wailers a mean Ites are still here So maybe di Originals sleeping on the job or they changed or they ran outa steam Nuh feel nuh way still even Bunny Wailer change Long live the Original Italites
Hold on let the Original Italites debate some ball topics so we see the real ting Just cum keep out

This obsevation is really your opinion. I have been here on this forum from almost the beginning and I see the forum grew and actually get better. I can't recall it been better than now.
We now discuss a wider variety of issues : All kinds of topics including: sports, economics, political, social, cultural, blibical and other issues.
Quote:
All the conscious thinking and solid, educational talks around here has disappeared. I guess we all are seasonal, just like the weather or birds in flight.
I am not sure what you call concious and educational talk if all we are going to talk about is football. I think that's is what Karl saying.
I don't recall seeing much more educational and concious resasonings going on this forum before now. Maybe you can enlight me on some of those topics.
Quote:
I for one just sit and observe most of the times.
Maybe you should try to innitiate some of those educational discussions that you are talking about.
Quote:
One of the main reason for me is that people have lost the true meaning of dialogue, disrespecting each other and acting child like in many instances.
I guess we were having better constructive dialogue before and we weren't disrespecting people on this forum before. You must be talking about a different forum. Not this one.
Quote:
Most of the things I see people want to talk about is of no significance or simply just trivial.
Maybe be the topic is trivial and no significance to you, but the fact is - that's what people want to talk about.
Quote:
Therefore, I will just chill until I start to see positive changes around here.
Well you have just contributed to the problem. If you see a problem and just 'chill' and wait until you see improvements before you make a move then you can't honestly critisize.

As far as I see, most if not all these persons that you listed are still posting here- so I don't get your point.
Are you saying that these people have regressed in their thinking. Surely, you have listed enough people to start many construtive threads but in your opinion these topics are not coming forward. What is happening to them? What is happening to you?
Quote:

Maybe, your are really asking if these lads have gone brain dead .
I personally believe that some of the guys that you listed were able to 'move with the flow' and are consequently posting much more conscious and rounded stuff than before.
There are 'others' of course ( I call them dinasours) who do not adapt very well to changes and have therefore become very ineffective and critical when things are not the same.
As Zouse said...you need to be able to keep up the speed of change .

Ok i Agree with Dart and Karl .. Here is a topic ......WHAT THE HECK IS THE CONCACAF DOING RELECTING JACK WARNER AS PRESEDENT??
I Believe the allogations against him being sly and Sneeky are true, and the JFF Reed is also one of his Cronies i have come to understand.. Burrell have stayed away from the mix for .. waht the Americans call Plausable deniabelity.... check this out ....maybe we have all seen this before maybe not .. anyway here it goes....MIAMI -- Trinidadian, Austin "Jack" Warner, was overwhelmingly re-elected as CONCACAF president yesterday at the annual Congress of FIFA's fourth largest confederation as top football officials denied allegations of fraud in the 1998 election of FIFA president, Sepp Blatter. Warner, 59, also denied that any "physical" threat had been made against FIFA general secretary, Michel Zen-Ruffinen, as leading officials of world football's governing body sought to quell several simmering crises in advance of next month's FIFA presidential election. Zen-Ruffinen, who has taken out a writ against Warner and CONCACAF's general secretary, Chuck Blazer, for defamation of character, was not at the Congress, although Blatter was. Warner, who has been the president of CONCACAF, which represents countries in North and Central America and the Caribbean, for 12 years, won by a vote of 36-2 over Mexico's Edgardo Codesal, who was allowed to run as a candidate nominated from the floor of the Congress. His victory maintains the status quo in the region and also means a wave of allegations made against him in the international media made little impact on the eligible voting delegates. One of the allegations made was that Warner and Blazer had previously refused to allow Codesal, the referee of the 1990 World Cup final, to stand, saying he was ineligible because he was a paid employee of the confederation. -- ESPN.com
I am in total agreement with you Double B. I too have watched the forum grow. There was one bad time when people felt free to use profanity and to be rude to others. We can't say that now coz we have regulated each other and we actually have some stimulating conversations. We might disagree in some things and it might get a little hot, but at the end of the day we'll still be cool with each other. Some people like to hold grudges and exalt themselves but that is not neccessary. I simply can't imagine what other kinds of conversations people want to have. If you can think of it then raise it and we can discuss it.

Well you see Karl, really and truly it hard to find JA related football topics now b/c nuttn nah gwan......I try my best to keep it football concious but it hard. Dont worry in a month it will be all about football....I miss dem times too, when man a come fi argue strong bout JFF, Nandi etc..but I mean, that really is not going to restart til another 2 years, and none of us i think really want to leave the forum, so we have to find different things to say but have no fear b/c.
I was browsing the other day trying to defend myself against the consistent blows of Double B when i came across a couple verses of "cloths" posted by quits a few of our prominent ites, moderator and all, even me......damn, those days were not good at all.
Saltman, i disagree that nothing is happening. For me it's all about Hazzard vs Arnette right now , and how Cargill and his bunch of girls lost their balls . I guess you need to join the "lets make something happen" crew....
Jagga, dont you see you need to open another moderator position

(This will probably be another long-running thread!)
As a newbie (less than a year on the site) I am impressed with the diversity of topics and subsequent discussions. I advertise the site using the analogy of the "man dem pon di corner". Where two or three Jamaicans are gathered there will always be talk of politics, religion and sports. I even had my mom log on and as an educator she was particularly interested in the "Gifted Child" thread.
The site name does lend to the belief that we only discuss football, but I believe that we are a multi-dimensional forum. I have had the pleasure of meeting a few of the Ites either in person or via the phone, and have always been impressed with the background of our members.
I have browsed on other sites, and theReggaeboyz.com undisputedly has one of the best forums. I come here for my news, sports and basic headline updates. If it's happening out there, we are talking about it in here!
This is where the art of conversation has been elevated. I notice Ites who find articles that they believe to be of interest and immediately open up a dialogue.
As much as I love football, I would hate to think that I am viewed as being able to hold a conversation only about football. I don't think any of us have lost our passion for the sport or our players (see updates on NPL finals (Topic: Zouse!)
Also remember that the topic of a thread does not always reflect its content. So continue to log-on, double-click and, and read to your hearts content. And be proud to be a "junior member", "member" or "moderator" on theReggaeBoyz.com!
Nuh worry yuhself my yout, in a few weeks we'll be going at each others throat like the 'happy dysfunctional family' that we're. World Cup football stirs up more emotions than any other sport that I know of.
We will be venting our fustrations with the players and administrators everytime we see a team from Concacaf take the field during the tourney, Lamenting our missed opportunity.
I don't have a problem with the 'ites' venturing onto other topics. Most of us on the forum have a common bond, a love FI WI YARD and anything whether sports related or not that affects the livelyhood of the Jamaican people affect us in some way and the forum is a good source for us to voice our opinions.
Jus to reiterate what Double B was saying, everytime I log-on to this site it bring me closer to days when I use to hangout on de corners wid mi brethens discussing everthing from sports to politricks.
However we should not lose sight of the reason why the site was establish and that is to discuss the Reggae Boyz (correct me if I'm wrong Jagga).

Karl...while I hear and understand where you are coming from, I am a little bit perturbed that mi good friend would offer some credible support to your arguments.
Then it got me thinking.....The Dart is a man of wisdom(having locked horns with him before), so why is he playing the devil's advocate. Then it dawned on me why.
It is just The Poison One being himself.
Stirring up the very same thing that you are calling out for....Stimulating discussions. At the same time him drop bait to see who fuss would swallow. I am pretty sure that he will not answer Double D and others ....as his work is done .
Anyway this board is alive and well. Very proactive, stimulating and it has grown leaps and bound and is growing as we speak.
I have an extended family, an encyclopedia, a comedy show, a stress reliever, a meeting place, a note book of lyrics, a thought provoker and much more. As for the reduction in foot-ball related discussions as it relates to the Jamaican team.....nuh worry yuhself. Browse thru the archives and read yuhself to death
_________________________ Life is a journey, not a destination
As I stated, I love the variety of PoSt. ITs just funny how the sports parralel life. Many jamaicans, don't give a crap about politics untill elections comes. We forget to hold people in positions of authority accountable. So, Let the lack of facilities in JA go on the 2004-5 we start yapping about it again. Let the government slide with thier neglect of our communities, then when election comes we yap about POVERTY, LACK OF JOBS, EDUCATION, CRIME, DECAY OF MORAL FIBER. Let the killas and drug dealers slide until we lose a FRIEND/RELATIVE, then we start asking WHY?. The mentality that certain thing have its season, I simply don't subscribe to.
Back to Football: Concacaf is the only confed to hold its re-election behind closed-doors. They didn't even also their invited guests from other confeds to witness the elections.
JFF: beleive that they don't have to show us their books on how they spend money.
Politics: Politicians make promises at election time, just to back-step on these promises. Yet, come next election they offer jobs(which are Temporary) for our votes. Flour, RICE, Chicken Back, and GUNS for our VOTES. Where is the ACCOUNTABILITY during their raign as political leaders the other 3yrs.
Tivoli Gardens, Should have the best FOOTBALL FIELD, BEST SCHOOLS, LOWEST CRIME rate if I was a resident and SEAGA wants my vote.
In many areas of life we fall for empty promises.
I love you guys here. I have learned alot from you guys. I respect everyone's view. But, I still beleive we shouldn't wait till next WC for more stimulating and productive talks and JA football.
Do you guys really believe that With STADIUM being out due to repair, that CHAMPS should have had such hard times finding a alternative venue. Do you rewalize how many SENIORS in HIGH SCHOOL that were expecting OVERSEAS SCOUTS to see then at a competitive level wont get that chance. Thank god for PENN RELAYS.
ANYONE FOR PENN RELAYS by the way.

Respect Karl... I am feeling that there is another side to your points in that U want the mans dem to come out and discuss the issues at hand and dont let them just disappear under the carpet...
For example The Concacaf Election and the allegations against Warner was posted on three separate threads on the forum...
Not much people lent their views. (Maybe everyone read it and agreed so didn't post) But I thought that was an important topic...Nothing insignificant or trivial about that.
A few man on site know a lot about our local competitions and clubs. We talk about advertising and promoting Jamaican Football. But no one posts info about that. (Or truth B that No one is interested really in Ja. ball) Yet nuff interest in the EPL. (maybe due to the Ja imports)
The JFF Admin has not done nothing for football since Tappa score two against Japan.. But trust mi... I cant talk about these issues on my own.. So if green eyes Delpy want to log on... den mi nuh fi "chisel my nisel" (or whatever elephant man say..
Princess came up with initiatives for helping football in Jamaica. Mi naw say nuh more... Nuh worri Princess mi still a work pon de case.. From three months now, mi have £20 put down fi Jagga... I will get around to it. A change of or move to change the JFF admin will definately create more stimulus.
But mi love fi talk bout World Affairs, politricks, injustices, Jamaica, jokes, girl talk, entertainment and music..
As enuff have already said... On de sit ya..is like jamming on the corners.Chilling pon the ENDS. When some man get heavily critisized them nuh love de corners nuh more.. All of a sudden dem have better things fi do. Some man just pass thru. Some man just love "hexup" in a big man company.
Unless yu never jam pon the corners or THE ENDS b4 then you just wont understand the variety of conversation or the ever changing developments.
Respect to the mans dem that keep the vibes flowing. Shouts to the man dem that participate. Big ups to all..
Anyway...mi gawn back gawn talk to Delpy....
Wha yu a say Wicked... heh heh.. How the football???
