· In this age of increased global cooperation, it is important for our government to deal with all world leaders in a fair and balanced manner. By consistently defying public outcry from foreign governments and human rights groups to stop the state sponsored terrorism, Sharon has shown contempt for diplomacy and international law. This is unacceptable.
· If our goal in the "war on terrorism" is to contain and eliminate the greatest threats to democracy and justice, then our nearly unconditional support for Sharon and the state of Israel must be addressed. The deliberate killing of civillians by the Israeli Defense Forces occurring almost daily since the outbreak of the Intifada can be described as a root cause of the anger that breeds terrorism, if not terrorism itself.
· By supporting Sharon and his regime we are supporting the continued violent oppression of the Palestinian people which is not only contrary to International Law but to the principles our nation was founded on and the ones we claim to continue to uphold. We must not allow ourselves to be complicit in human rights abuses and war crimes.
· As long as we support Sharon by not condemning his actions and by continuing to send billions of tax-dollars in aid, we will never be considered an honest broker in any peace effort and the conflict will only escalate. It is in our own interest to encourage a just resolution and we can only do so through just actions such as cutting ties with Sharon before even greater atrocities are committed.
Facts on Sharon's History:
1. In 1952 Ariel Sharon was appointed commander of special 101 Commando Unit which carried out raids on West Bank village of Qibya, then part of Jordan, in which 69 civilians were brutally killed, many of them women and children.
2. The massacre at the Sabra and Shatilla refugee camps occurred between September 16 and 18, 1982, after Israel Defense Forces ("IDF") then occupying Beirut and under Ariel Sharon«s overall command as Israeli Defense Minister permitted members of the Phalange militia into the camps. The victims included infants, children, women (including pregnant women), and the elderly.
3. In February 1983, the three-member Israeli official independent commission of inquiry charged with investigating the events known as the Kahan Commission named former Defense Minister Sharon as one of the individuals who "bears personal responsibility" for the Sabra and Shatilla massacre.
4. The current Intifada started after Sharon visited the Al-Aqsa Mosque and Noble Sanctuary in Jerusalem under heavy army guard knowing that this would spark resistance from the oppressed Palestinians. This was a calculated step on his part.

truetrini it's good to see that u recognize the wrong of Israel towards the Palestinians and the continued support by the United States to thse atrocities committed. Tat Ariel Sharon guy looks like a pig and should never be voted in as leader of Israel. I hope the U.S.A will tell Israel that they are wrong and even more do something about it. As long as Israel continue to occupy Palestine and treat them like how Hitler treated the Jews, i.e. as second class citizens ,then there will be continued suicide attacks on Israeli civilians and soldiers. That fat ugly evil pig Sharon should do the Israeli a favour and resign because he only makes Israel looks worse as time passes.

Did you know that Secretary of Defence, Donald Rumsfeld was once a board member of a Swedish-Swiss company called ABB?
He resigned from his position as a director in February.
However, he was still on the board of this company when it signed a contract to provide equipment and services for two nuclear power power stations to be built in NORTH KOREA.
Now now Donald. North Korea and nuclear. what have we been up to?

Remarks by the President to a Hand-Picked Audience of Supporters
THE PRESIDENT: Good afternoon. As a few of you may have heard, the situation between the Israeloids and Palestiniacs continues to deteriorate, despite my administration's best efforts to appear effectual. Of course, until recently, our Middle East policy was built upon the assumption that the only Americans who give a damn about this conflict were the Jews - and inasmuch as they all voted for Al Gore (or at least meant to), Karl Rove felt it best if we didn't get too mixed up their little blood feud. But today, not only are an increasing number of non-Jewish Americans telling pollsters that this war might impact how they vote in the mid-term elections, but some prominent petrochemical tycoons are starting to suspect that the situation might escalate to a point where the entire region is destabilized, and our nation's powerful thirst for cheap, plentiful arabiac oil might not be quenched - or worse - we'll have to pay realistic prices for the stuff, and start driving around in 2-cylinder Korean rice burners. (Boos.)
And so over the past several days, I've presided over no fewer than two brainstorming videoconferences from my treadmill, and I am happy to report that we have at last realized an effective plan for extricating these peoples from the quagmire of hatred and violence into which William Jefferson Clinton cast them all during his perverted and self-serving attempts to realize so-called "peace."
"What does the plan call for," you ask? Well, I figure it this way: You've got two groups of people, each believing in a different false god, and fighting to the death over the same barren armpit of a useless plot of land that doesn't even have any oil under it. Both sides are so worked up, they can't even admit it when one of their own kind screws up. And that got me to thinking - it's all kind of like how the coloreds here in America got after OJ Simpson went and gouged out the jugular of that blonde girlie with the fake hooters. We knew he did it, he knew he did it, but the rest of the coloreds wouldn't say he did it! I asked Condi and Colin why that was, and they both said "Cracker!" - which I think is colored slang for "ours is an unpredictable and irrational race." Anyway, this is all to say, it's high time people over there in the Middle East stopped focusing on their negative differences and decided to start having fun - together.
As we all know, there's nothing on the entire face of the planet that brings people of all faiths and ethnicities together in a setting of peace, happiness, and fun quite like the glorious theme parks conceived of by the great Methodist visionary Mr. Walt Disney. And so today, having met at length with the board of directors of the Walt Disney Corporation (and threatened to tax the liberal bastards blind!), I am pleased to announce plans for the prompt construction of Disney World Jerusalem, into whose welcoming arms all Israeloids and Palestiniacs will be herded by well-armed Texas Rangers, who have plenty of experience convincing brown people to behave. Once inside, all formerly warring parties will be paid handsomely to put aside their differences and revel in the warm light of American high culture while acquiring all manner of quality merchandize produced by nimble-fingered armies of pre-teen Chinese laborers. (Thunderous Applause.)
In closing, I just want to say that I have the utmost faith that my boldly original and highly unorthodox plan will miraculously bring a speedy and complete end to millennia of mutual loathing, mistrust and killing in the Middle East - and that when it's all said and done, history will judge me as not only the best hung President ever, but also the mostest visionarian.

Guidance, actually I amy be running for a position on the County Board of supervisors in Stafford County VA next year. So satrat the war chest!
As for the others and you to Guidance, I have always maintained that Sharon was a war criminal. I support Isarel's rights to exist, but not under the present conditions. Is it any wonder that Sharon has been widely condemned in Israe, and yet still won the elections?
Says a lot about the people!

Impressive letter TT. Isn't it double standards that they are hunting down Nazi War Criminals for crimes against jews, yet Sharon and his Zionist posse are committing crimes against the Palestinians?
Mmmhhh! Now who is more of a war criminal? Hitler or Sharon? The UN should let him face the War Crimes Tribunal, just like Milosovic. No wonder the US attract terrorist, as their international relations ****s. Talk about power...not a fair world.

Amid the rubble of Jenin, Palestinians bury their dead

The Palestinians came back to Jenin to bury their dead yesterday. They came in their hundreds back to the dust and rubble that used to be their homes. Those who found the bodies of their loved ones buried them in white shrouds, some with tributes of purple flowers, some with their names in red. Men stood in the freshly dug graves to lay the bodies to rest, while all around the women wailed.
And the machine-guns echoed. Some said it was Palestinian fighters firing in tribute; others said it was Israeli soldiers firing at those trying to drive here on the roads.
The Palestinians were able to return because the Israeli army withdrew from Jenin, but it only withdrew so far. And in defiance, the Palestinians festooned the ruins of their homes with flags and banners. A huge Palestinian flag was draped across the rubble and the green flag of Hamas flew over the refugee camp for the first time since the Israeli onslaught.
Seven Palestinians were shot dead by Israeli forces occupying Ramallah yesterday, including two who the army said were trying to infiltrate a Jewish settlement. Among the dead were two boys, aged nine and 14.
The bloodshed came as a suicide bomber from Islamic Jihad blew himself up at an Israeli military checkpoint in the Gaza Strip, injuring two soldiers. The return of violence to Gaza raised fears that Israel might try to repeat its massive military operation in the West Bank inside the strip.
The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Mary Robinson, cancelled her fact-finding mission to the West Bank and Gaza Strip yesterday after Israel refused to provide the necessary help.
Yesterday the Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat offered to put the killers of the Israeli tourism minister Rechavam Ze'evi on trial in a Palestinian court. But a spokesman for thePrime Minister Ariel Sharon insisted they should be handed over to Israel.

Could the historians and knowledgable 'ites please re-educate me...
I am of the impression that the palestinians were flexing on the ends from time and then some top a de top decide fi tex piece of their corners and give it to the jews..
Man an man neva like dat, so the gun start bark. Eventually England step up wid a so called solution. It neva really worked as now the isrealoids seem to wanna take more than their fair share still as they claim they need to be recognized as a state.
As a man who love to argue about right from wrong and against USA unfair policies I sometimes dont argue about the history if it dont really influence the present.Hence why do the palestinians keep up the long arguments with Isreal if Isrealoids are suppose to be wrong in occupying the West Bank and terrorizing the Palestinians. From some arguments I hear during the week, I got an impression that the palestinians are seeking a recognized state as well.. ?I thought they already had that.. Could someone please enlighten me on the history of this conflict...thanks..

Israel must deal with the long-term goal of the Palestinian state in which Israel will have to make tough decisions; or else the suicide bombings may continue and the IDF military incursions will also.
