Should be a good game....Anyone else have details?
LAGOS, April 12 (AFP) - Nigeria will face Jamaica in London on May 18 as part of their build-up for the World Cup finals, officials told AFP Friday.
"Jamaica were not originally listed for our warm-up matches but because of the need to try as many players as possible before the World Cup, we have now agreed to play them," said Edozie Enemuo, the marketing chief of the Nigeria Football Association (NFA).
Jamaica drew 2-2 with Nigeria in a friendly on the road to the 1998 World Cup.
The official told AFP that three days after the Jamaica friendly, Nigeria will travel to Dublin to tackle fellow World Cup finalists Republic of Ireland in another tune-up game.
He said the NFA is still waiting for a "reconfirmation" for the warm-up match against Yugoslavia on May 8 in Belgrade.
Yugoslavia had earlier called off the match but have since informed Nigeria they are willing for the game to go ahead.
Nigeria's 'Super Eagles' are drawn in a tough first round group in the finals in Japan and South Korea along with tournament favourites Argentina, England and Sweden.
They face Argentina on June 2 in their opening game.

I think the 2 squad thing would be great. I think it will better than having the UK players fly to the US. A full team could be called using just UK players

....what would be the objective for playing 2 practice matches with two entirely different sets of players? Aren't we suppose to be in a rebuilding phase for the future. What about team chemistry? Are guys implying that we should just blindly play practice a match because a team request one from us?

Team What ? I didnt know there was a tournament we are warming up for. Jamaica is in Dire need of matches, these matches are the only prospect isee for the year. After the WC is over the EU teams will start preparing for their Tournament. We only have Olympics to prepare for. So i figure take what you can.

You really serious? I though you were joking!!!
So who would be our Goalkeeper and defendors for the UK squad? Remember Ian Goodison is injuried. Frank Sinclair is the only defendor we have over there right now unless you going to put Lowe in defense.
Nigeria would give us about 12 love!!
Also, for the US match, we want our strongest team because this is a FIFA sanctioned friendly -all our forwards are in the UK. We can't afford to continue slipping down the FIFA chart.

I don't want to be misunderstood with what i said so i'll just clarify. I suggested this because the players would be jet lagged and not be able to play as well.
Its a good Idea to call two different teams DoubleD, in such that we could seek the same benefit as Nigeria and test out who and how much talent we can eventually start rebuilding with..
But being honest...Jamaica is a bad choice as they are in full dis-array... Nuthen naw gwaan fi wi right cha now..

It is also an excellent opportunity to showcase some local talent in the UK. Give some of the young player there first chance to play in first class facilities. It is a great thing to show young Jamaican ballers first hand where could reach if they follow in Bibi, JJ etc. footsteps. It is one thing to talk about playing at Wembley but when you see it first hand it can really light a fire.
Hopefully Kelly can hop the channel and get a run.
Lyod - I am not really interested in seeing gayle, hall or Sinclair in the national colours again. We are building for WC 2006.
yes trinity u right we nuh waan see them again langley and nuff other young yout deh bout fuller..ye kelly..ye jj..ye and as i saying b4 is a lot of exposure we goin to be getting from that match with nigeria being in the same group as england they goin to be a lot of scrutiny

How r we going to play 2 games in 3 days on 2 separate continents? The 5/16 game starts at 7:30pm. The last redeye to LHR is at 11:30pm.
Are we expecting a very junior/inexperienced team to get on a flight for almost 7 hours arrive in a different time zone with nuff jet lag, rebound, practice and give 100% to play NIGERIA?!! Then maybe there is something about these youth that I don't know!
I am glad that we are getting games but come on can someone explain the scheduling? And the 2 team thing no mek no kinda sense. If we are in a rebuilding/restructuring stage shouldn' we be fielding the same team. They NEED to build some unity among themselves. We know what happens when a team doesn't practice TOGETHER!!!
If we start sending just a bunch of guys to play all over the place we are sending the wrong message to other countries -- we no tek this ball thing serious -- jus' ask the U-19 girls who played yesterday! I won't even talk about what it will do to our FIFA standings, which will hurt future transfers, which will hurt local clubs/players which will hurt what is left of football in Jamaica, which will jus' mek me keel over and ded!
It takes time for a team to form a certain cohesiveness that only playing together can accomplish.
This has got to be jus' another JFF attempt to mek the last $$ b4 them bail
But they dont have to be listed as fifa games... Management fi be upfront and explain Jamaica's situation... But do there best to provide a strong team on both side s of the continents so as keep communications.
We have to come up with these weird ideas as NO ONE SEEMS TO CAN GET RID OF OUR ADMINISTRATION.

Well both the US and Nigeria would like us to fied our "strongest team". we cant just go to these friendlies with just whatever team. If we slip over 70 in FIFA rankings we jeopordize future players playing/developing in europe.
just heard burrel on the radio saying the deal is 90% complete i hope for our sakes that this works out as we need to stabilize our ratings and keep the door open for our players overseas
