This challenge was posed to a distinguished member of our Forum and I am opening it up for others to respond.
It is November 30 and for discussion sake ONLY, Jamaica does not qualify for Japan. Portia and the powers that be call you at home and tell you they are offering you the position of JFF president for an interim period of 12 months. The terms laid out seem reasonable to you and you accept, pardon grab the position.
In your new capacity as president how would you go about structuring a program that will ensure a successful football program for Jamaica. Note well you will not be given any additional funds from the govt. coffers but you have the powers to get funding from any legit sources.
Please enlighten us on how you would proceed concentrating on say 5-6 major objectives since you have a short time. Congratulations on your new appointment! Wishing you all the best!
PS: The pay is good and the benefits nice. The perks, Handsome. The complete job description is available from JFF. Just call and they 'will' fax it to you. Fi a smalls. Remember you have all the Ites to advise you.

FIRE Horace Reid. He is baggage. He is not even a good DO-Boy to have. waste of funds. Offer Captain Burrell a position that will maximize his expertise. I think Burrell is still an asset to the program

Second thing I would do is demote Carl Brown from Assistant coach. He would be asked to conduct coaching clinics at schools across the Island. He has been with the program a long time and he is still useful a resource. Trim the inefficient staff at the JFF headquarters, too much friend and friend business. Cut all the waste that takes place there. Rent out some of the unused office space and hire a good executive assistant.

Nice one Guidance, nice one.
1. Nothing can be done w/o $$$$, so I would approach companies at home and abroad to help us with sponserships.
2. To be able to maximise the $$$ I would unload all members of the JFF that are not absolutely neccessary and hire a financial wizard to manage it. I would also hire a good P.R person to help put us on the map world wide and to help us forge alliances.
3. I would then set about hiring a coach who is known for building programs and for winning.
4. To get us into the spot light I would plan a tour of the U.S.A. where there is an a huge concentration of Jamaican. This would also be a $$$ maker. I would do the same with England.
5. I would immediately establish a residency program for players 20 years and younger where they would train full time under the eyes of a qualified coach. The entire Island would be scoured for talent not just Kingston.
6. I would establish an alliance with a friendly F.A. that would provide us with training for our local coaches. They would have to attend school to learn the fundamental of the game and how to be professionals both in our academy at home and through extensive internships abroad.
7. I would earn the public's trust by keeping them informed and by opening the books for their inspection.
8. I would get our professional league started in the most expedient manner.
9. Last but not least, I would read the forum every day to get new ideas and to get an informal evaluation of my job performance.
Peace

'ites, you never know what will happen. Who know we may eventually find ourselves in a position where the forum members get so organized and have so much more to offer in terms of fairness and organization that the boyz would choose to have us run things for them. haha hahahah
First thing I would do is hire Zouse, who has more intelligence that he exhibits sometimes, and make sure say the organization don't slip on any idle soupbone someone has discarded after all the meat is gone. hahahahaha.

Wait deh... It sound like somebody get the job and scouring for info.. Why was this post not posed to all at first. And who is this DISTINGUISHED MEMBER???????
But stop...!!!!!!!!!
Jah B has said most of what I agree with.
4.. I would also plan two games in Canada and a few in Europe.
5.. I would realise Lincoln's idea. Make the U20's a permanent and honourary team in the Jamaican League. This would allow the over 20's to get involved with the other league teams.
6.. I would hope enough funding and sponsorship is aquired to help establish football academies in east and west of the country. These academies will also help to fund other courses for the youngsters in case they dont make it in the football world.
10.. I would create a register/database of all the eligable players.
11.. I would open up communication lines with all overseas based clubs that have Jamaican internationals. Establish a constant line of understanding and compromise.
12.. All internationals would have a contract that clearly states that two years payback is a must.(Either by way of training, mentor, community work or monetary assistance.)
13.. Better establish the Ladies team. As this is going to be a hugh sport for ladies. Trust me.
14.. Create plans for a football stadium.

Yu know Jahbilly... Its funny how we always get stuck at the phenomenom.. "we dont know how jamaican society works"... As if there is a real secret thing going on.
Well U R right but I believe its time the masses get introduced to new stuff coz that is another phenomenom about jamaica. They eventually can be persuaded if introduced correctly.

Alright,
Easy Shaggy, i'm cool now, no more slipups, man like Jagga just gwan bigup, the '1st episode' is over, let's see what happens next. I'm sure Jt has 'heard it all before', so maybe he'll soon can't be bothered. Bigup Soupbone, keep the vibes mi itedren, don't let St. Kitts get you down.
All man like Guidance and the rest a itedrens dem, i tell you, should we thrash Swansea and beat Mexico, and probably qualify, then all this cussing will just subside....
Anyway here goes: I don't think one or two paragraph can fully describe what i have in mind so i'm just going to concentrate on the prerequisite for playing ball. First of all, i'm not firing anyone, i want them to be there to see how 'big man' run dis. Furthermore, i need to know where Burrell hide the stash so i can make use of all that 'loot'to fund my new - Football Academy.
The present system of player selection is not efficient enough to capitalize on all the talent out there. Too much favoritism to start with. As bad as the npl is, we all know that there MUST be at least 1 per 11 baller that can make it. Not to mention the 'bush' ballers! I use to wonder, what are the odds against someone about 27 who has not really affiliate himself with any team, but is physically strong and mentally prepared, making it into football?
So as the NEW Jff president wanabee, i'd first scap all players not in the STARTING 11. This means, all players from the bench down is all of a sudden NOT on the national team! Fi real.
The technical director will only be responsible for the new national 22 exclusively, and a separate body will see to the development of people in the academy.
Thus, My new academy will have an heading like this:
"!CALLING ALL BALLERS!"
Yes, anyone who wakes up one morning and suddenly decides he want to play ball for the nation, run on down to the academy!
The structure of this system will be something like this:
1 Enrollment 2 Filtering, u15, u20, etc. 3 Basic fitness test - which is done indoors.
Basically, this fitness test is designed to 'weed out' the wasteoftimers from early.
It's done on a platform which is dyno controled, similar to one of those home exercise machines used to jog on. The only difference with this one is that it controls how fast and how long you run, jog, or sprint, and it simulates about 2 miles in one testing period.
Once you quit before the cycle ends, you're out of the program.
.............................................
-End of part one. -next, knowledge of the game.

hi formites, I would like to give two cents to the matter. I would like to see the JFF structure, function and responsibility delegate to other committe members. Each elected committee memmber has a job description. Not just say fro examaple Mr Reid is the president of the JFF. WE want to know his job description. Also we want to know his program for the future development of football in jamaica. Whether the program is a ten pointed plan or 12 steps program we want to know. This goes for all elected committee members. It is too long now that we are in the same old way of doing business.Just say you are the president, forgive my expression, do not mean $hit. we want to see practical agenda in place. Formites, i live live in USA but the heart belong to yard. After every US presidential election, the new president has to put forward a a hundred day plan to the congress and the people. Also he MUST have a long term developmental plan. How successful he will be as a president depend upon his 100 day plan and his long term goals. The JFF president needs to put under such system. We can jugde him for what he has achieved and will achieved.

Hi Shaggy, I agree with the man, demote carl Brown from the staff. repalce with the coach of the young reggaeboyz. Too much friend business, undercover back stabbing, the DT is weak. He is not like Simoes who replace carl Brown once. Carl Brown has football knowhow but not football knowledge. He is like kindergarden teacher sent to teach college students. It is not his level. one love.

Point taken Color red,
Just some more info on the academy:
This academy is designed to capatilize on any football talent that's out there, including any age baller that's capable. It's aim is to prepare a person to be physically, mentally and tactically competent to a certain standard, so that person can be a benifit to himself and to the nation, through selections either for the national squad or other overseas contracts.
It will run alongside all present football leagues currently employed. Therefore a player in the npl may enroll, and get the time off to still play for his club, but his development is solely with the academy. However, the maximum 'student' body will be 75, divided among u15, u20 and above. It's curriculum is designed for one year, after which there will be a 'special international' showcase of jamaican talent under the watchfull eyes of scouts and the technical director.
There will also be one academy team at the various age levels which will be active in the domestic leagues.
International matches, begin at the third quarter of the curriculum. There will be two before graduation. If a baller fails to graduate he has the right to repeat or quit the program at any time.
....Remember this 'fantasy' is open to suggestions....

I would use this web site to help with PR, to help get info to the fans and to help generate funds for the team. Fi Real. The present guys missing the boat on the adventages of technological age. They are acting like they are in the dark ages. The internet is possibly the cheapest medium/highest exposure there is today.
