Ricketts' dream fades ^top

Michael Ricketts's World Cup dreams could be over after he was overlooked in Sven Goran Eriksson's England squad to face Italy on Wednesday.
The 23-year-old striker made his international debut in last month's 1-1 draw in Holland after impressing in his first season in the Premiership.
But Eriksson named just five strikers in the squad - Liverpool duo Michael Owen and Emile Heskey, Spurs' Teddy Sheringham, Robbie Fowler of Leeds and Aston Villa starlet Darius Vassell.

He not ready! In all seriousness, do you think if you were coach you would pick him?

No, if a striker cannot scoring goals he isn't good.

The same is with Lowe. He is currently damn good, but only because he scored so many goals for Rushden&Diamonds.

Ricketts is also eligible to play for Jamaica against USA. The Holland match was only a friendly game.

Jamaica's game against the USA for 3 years was also a FIFA friendly game. David Johnson played for the Boyz and scored a great goal. Now he plays for Scotland.

Ricketts is out of World Cup. He cannot scoring goal and is on the bench.

If Gardner were eligible to play for England I think that Eriksson named him in his currently squad, because Gardner is the best left winger in England.

If he is performing the way he is and the JFF invites him to the May encounter with the USA, I'll stop supporting the TEAM. If he's not good enough for England, then he's not good enough for Jamaica.

Fire fi Ricketts.
We nuh want nuh England what left.
He had his chance to play for us but choose England instead so now he must eat cold pudding.
Thats what being an adult means, making a choice and sticking with it.

Ricketts only chance of making the squad again after the Holland performance was to score spectacular goals on a regular basis since then for Bolton. He hasn't been able to do this.

He had a great start to the season but hasn't been able to sustain it, he's got a lot of stuff goin on, messing up his head, issues with agents, big Sam etc.

Sam says he's giving him a 'Beckham style' rest on the bench so he can recharge his batteries, i think this is only an excuse, bottom line is he hasn't been good enough since the new year, he's been dropped and Sam's rightfully giving others a chance. I'd be tempted to play him in the reserves, he's a confidence player, he needs to remember what it felt like to score goals, the reserves are on a high (winning 6-2 last week), creating masses of chances and playingt good football, if he could stick a few away for them, he'd be earning his chance to play again.

'BigSam' is a bit too quick to bench his young players when they're having a lean spell. Ricketts is the teams leading goalscorer by far. He cannot regain his earlier form by sitting idle on the bench. Leave the young man on the field and let him regain his confidence there. With regards to his England future he's still young and with the right guidance he can become a regular with the team. Playing for the 'Boyz' is no longer an option in my books, 'Sir Ricketts' spread im bed so im haffi lay inna it.

Let's be honest guys. The dude made the right choice in opting for England. Just a reminder, that Carl Brown is now TD. After what happened to Hayles, Hyde and others, sitting on the bench while Lowe made a mess of the team. What do you expect?? After seeing what happened to the others...the dude made the right choice.

With Carl Brown as coach, Lowe will always be the starting forward (do or die). Is there room for others? I would rather play 10 minutes on the England team, than warming the Jamaican bench for 90 minutes.

I think that you guys have the wrong impression of Mr. Brown. Yes, he will start Lowe, but only if he's performing. I remember the second to last game for Jamaica where O'Nandi wasn't performing and he was subbed early in the second half.

Is there room for others? Yes, there is but no room for rubbish players. Time will tell.

I wouldn't be too quick to make this statement.

Also, you have absolutely no reasons for saying this - because you simply don't KNOW what Brown is going to do.
All, that you know is that Brown don't rate Barry Hayles - nothing more!!. Didn't you see Brown recently invited two new strikers from England? Don't you see Brown bigging up Fuller?

Any rational thinking person would see that Brown being the first Local TD, wants to prove his critics wrong and therefore Onandi (the man who spoiled Clovis's and the entire reggaeboyz world cup dream ) will have prove himself to figure in his plan.

Also, why do you think Onandi and Brown are buddy buddy?

Remember that it was Brown that Onandi tell off in Mexico when he walked off the field in the world cup qualifier.

What has TD Brown done so far with respect to Onandi Lowe?

He not only substituted him in the USA (never happened with Clovis) match but he did not make the team for the final match in Jamaica against Costa Rica.

For those of us who are going to say - Why play Lowe if we couldn't qualify ?

..... yes, we still had a slim chance to qualify when we played the US in Boston.

We need to be fair when judging people. If you all were in Ricketts shoes, who would you want to play for? I wish him all the best and we are sorry that he didn't pick us, but that's life. There are so many other options that I can't see why we are even thinking bout him at this point.

Peace
